Inspired by Octavia’s Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements, Community Reads is welcoming submissions from our community members to be compiled into an anthology of visionary fiction from the UW Bothell/Cascadia College community. We encourage your writing submissions of any form – short stories, flash fiction, poetry, essays – about your own visions of a better world.

We will be moderating submissions to ensure inclusivity (see our Public Writing Guide for tips on inclusive writing) and consistency with our community agreements. Good faith submissions in the spirit of these agreements will be accepted. Your sharing by way of this form indicates that you have read and agree to the participant agreements.

If you have any questions about this form or the site, please email us at uwblibcommreads@uw.edu.

Enter the content for your writing below. You must save first and preview once before it goes into the system as a draft. After that, continue to edit, save, and preview as much as needed. Enter the title of your writing here.

Publish under your name, twitter handle, pseudonym, or remain "Anonymous". If you include a twitter handle such as @billyshakespeare, when someone tweets your work you will get a notification.

Use the editing area below the toolbar to write and format your writing. You can also paste formatted content here (e.g. from MS Word or Google Docs). The editing tool will do its best to preserve standard formatting--headings, bold, italic, lists, footnotes, and hypertext links. You can also embed audio and video from many social sites simply by putting the URL of the media on a blank line (you will see them embedded in previews and when saved).

See details on the formatting tools in the editing tool tips.

Add any endnote / credits information you wish to append to the end of your writing, such as a citation to where it was previously published or any other meta information. URLs will be automatically hyperlinked when published. You may also want to use this space for a brief statement on your work, but this is not required.
