The UW Bothell/Cascadia College Library is pleased to announce a call for applications for the Digital Scholarship Faculty Fellows grant, a Library-sponsored opportunity for UW Bothell faculty. The Library seeks to support 1-2 UW Bothell faculty in developing a digital scholarship project over the course of the 2023-2024 academic year. Faculty Fellows will receive a $5000 stipend and support from the Library’s Head of Digital Scholarship and Library staff. Applications are due October 20, 2023. Award
The award for Digital Scholarship Faculty Fellows includes the following:
- $5000 stipend to be used to fund your own research and development time, paid undergraduate student assistance, supplies, or other pre-approved costs
- Library support, including:
- Project hosting in any of the UW Libraries’ DS Hosting tools and platforms, including WordPress, Pressbooks, Omeka, etc.
- Digital scholarship consulting services, including project planning, choosing tools and platforms, copyright, metadata, open pedagogy assignment design, digital archives, open publishing, web accessibility, etc.
- Staff technical support with UW Libraries’ DS Hosting tools and platforms
- Teaching partnerships, if relevant
- Project publicity and impact
- Budget support from the Library Administrator
Requirements for Fellows
Digital Scholarship Faculty Fellows are expected to:
- Develop a DS project using the UW Libraries’ DS tools and platforms, with a shareable result by June 1, 2024
- Develop a project that is fully Open and follows accessibility best practices
- Work with your department’s Administrator in purchasing and making arrangements for payment of student payroll. All applicable UW purchasing and employment policies and procedures must be followed
- Contribute a blog post about the project to the Library’s DS@UWB blog
- Participate in occasional UW Libraries events, assessments, or publicity/outreach efforts
Selection Criteria
In choosing Digital Scholarship Faculty Fellows, the Library will prioritize project proposals that meet the following criteria:
- Project will use Library platforms and services
- Project will be fully Open and accessible
- Project will contribute to campus, library, and digital scholarship priorities and values of social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Application includes a budget
- Funds will be used to support undergraduate researcher(s) working on the project with faculty
How to Apply
In a one-page document, please address the following:
- What is your vision for this project?
- How does this project align with Digital Scholarship Priorities and Values, based on UW Bothell’s and the Library’s social justice equity, diversity, and inclusion priorities and values?
- What types of support do you anticipate you will need from the Library?
- Will you have collaborators or partners?
- Will there be an open pedagogy component to your work?
- Will you be including undergraduate researcher(s) in your project?
- Include a tentative budget.
