Q: Why is the group of students that you chose to research important?

Mental health is something everyone deals with. So making sure that we are taking care of ourselves and our mental state is very important. How we as individuals feel mentally affects the way we are present in our lives. As students our mental health can take a hard hit, this can cause us to have issues in our academic performance and relationships. For many students it’s the beginning of adulthood for them so adjusting to the new changes is difficult for many and causes a decline in mental health and wellbeing. I choose this resource because I feel that it’s an amazing thing for people to know about and recognize that it is something we should prioritize caring for.

Q: Provide a brief history of the educational organization that you have researched along with the purpose of the organization?

A: The Navos mental health Solutions Organization is located in the Puget Sound area. It was created by local residents who were unhappy with the unfilled need for affordable mental health care. Navos expanded its capabilities for treating children and adolescents by merging with Ruth Dykeman Children’s Center. Navos dramatically expanded its services again through a merger with Seattle Children’s Home, a longtime leader in child and adolescent mental health. Navos is known to be one of the largest community mental health services in our state, and also the provider for more then 40% of youth in king county.  They have three locations, The Navos Mental Health & wellness center in Burien WA, the Navos Lake Burien, and the Navos West Seattle Campus.

Q: Whom do they serve?

A: Navos mental health helps anyone, all backgrounds, anyone who wants to help get back their lives from mental illnesses, addiction, trauma and abuse. Providing homes and safe places for people in need, helping out youth who have ages out of foster care find housing and work to establish a strong foundation for adult lives.

Q: What programs do they offer?

A: Navos Mental Health different locations provide different programs. At the Navos Mental Health & Wellness Center in Burien they have Adult Outpatient Behavioral Health (mental health, substance use disorders) – Pharmacy – Specialty Programming – Program Housing – King County Public Health. Navos Lake burien has Infant, Child, Youth, & Family Outpatient Mental Health – Program Housing – Specialty Programming.lastly Navos West Seattle Campus has Inpatient Behavioral Health Hospital – Administration – Program Housing.

Q:What could they do better?

A: Overall the Navos mental health organization does a really good job at making help accessible to all. I think the only changes I would make to their site is adding more photos and visuals. This could help people get a better picture of what the organization looks like. I also think some information is repetitive and could be paraphrased.

Q: Was information about the organization accessible? Red flags?

A: The Navos organizations website does a really good job at having all the information that you could need easily accessible. On there website they have a search bar where you can put in exactly what it is you are looking for and want to know and it leads you directly to it which is very helpful and convenient for those struggling to get answers and need the easy helpful access. Overall a really good formatted website no reflags that I could find for it.
